Our packing list

Enclosed we have listed the complete contents of our packing list. We updated this list 5 months after the start of our trip around the world in the Philippines and added the latest product variants that we would buy now.
The clothing details include the clothes we are wearing.

Backpacks

High Peak Sherpa
Forclaz MT 900
Backpacks
RebeccaHigh Peak Sherpa 65+10Small, light and simple. The compartment at the bottom can be opened or closed in the large compartment. This means we either have our clothes and shoes separately or we have one large compartment inside.
HirschForclaz MT 900 Symbium 70+10Thanks to the full opening at the front, we can easily get to everything and the backpack can be packed almost like a suitcase.

Daypacks

Daypacks
Earthpak 35l*Our perfect companion when it gets wet. It has often proved its worth. Whether on a boat trip or a hike and overnight stay in the rainforest, the Earth Pak does it all. We are particularly impressed by the tube opening, which allows the backpack to be extended and thus increases its capacity.
Pacsafe 25l Rucksack*Being able to leave the hostel with a clear conscience is a must for us. We didn’t always have our own lockers to store our valuables, but we didn’t need to as we had our own safe, which could also be a rucksack. Thanks to the long wire rope, we can attach the bag anywhere. Whether on the shower or on the washing machine, we’ve definitely gotten creative.
Faltbarer Rucksack Skysper*Our everyday companion. Lightweight and easy to fold into itself, the small backpack has everything we need. The integrated waterproof compartment makes it even more perfect. Whether you’re exploring the city, shopping or dining out, the Skysper is always with you.
Pacsafe 15l Tasche*Why a second Pacsafe? We decided to get two because we need one for our long and relaxed beach trips. I think there’s nothing worse than wanting to be in the water together and snorkeling for hours or walking along the beach without being able to take your eyes off your valuables. The second smaller safe made this possible and we were able to leave our cell phones, drone and especially the insulin alone on the beach with a clear conscience.

Healing clayGood for the intestinal flora with all the foreign and spicy food.
ColdIslamoosFor sore throats and taste really good.
LozengesHelpful during take-off and landing and against pressure on the ears.
Inhaler pen + nose clipHelps quickly with a blocked nose and finally being able to breathe again.
GelomyrtolHas an expectorant effect on colds.
MusclesLimptarPrevents calf cramps at night, which I sometimes suffer from when my legs are under a lot of strain.
MagnesiumPreventive during hikes.
GeneralAntibioticsIf there is no doctor around.
Malaria preventionIf there is no doctor around.
Tigerbalm whiteNatural remedy for cold symptoms before other tablets have to be taken.
Tigerbalm redNatural remedy that promotes blood circulation.
Iodine ointmentFor cuts or other wounds. Often used, for example, when we cut ourselves to the flesh on a surfboard.
BepanthenHelps to heal wounds.
Disinfectant sprayFor cuts or other wounds.
Eye dropsFor dry eyes caused by air conditioning or long swims in the sea. Often needed.
Tick tweezersSelf-explanatory 😉
Blister plasterSelf-explanatory 😉
Heat plasterIf there is no hot water bottle.
Sewing kitWe needed the needle to remove slate from the skin or to access the SIM card in the cell phone.
2x FFP2 masksAre still required in some countries. E.G.: A temple in the Philippines, doctors in Malaysia.
MosquitoesMoskitospraySelf-explanatory 😉 We reccomend taking one with DEED factor from Germany. In Sounth East Asia often expensive and not working.
Heat it*Helps after a sting. Decomposes proteins through brief exposure to heat and relieves itching. A real miracle cure and very often in use. It’s small and always fits in your pocket.
PlasterTape HansaplastQuick and easy plaster.
Various plastersSelf-explanatory 😉
2x gauze bandagesFor more severe injuries.
Important:
We are not doctors and only share our experiences here. This is not an instruction or guide to taking medication without a prescription or prior consultation.

Diabetes utensils

Diabetes utensils
10x BD Ultra Fine attachments 100 piecesNeedles with which I can inject the insulin through the skin.
12x One Touch test strips 25 pieces packRequired for manual, blood-based measurement of the current blood glucose value.
2x One Touch device with 2 spare batteriesThe device that goes with the test strips to measure blood glucose.
1x cooler bag 20l*Essential for the transportation of insulin.
1x Frio*The Frio contains small crystals that are only activated by water. Once activated, they keep the insulin cool, especially at high temperatures. They can be reactivated again and again and are perfect for everyday use. The Friotasche urgently needs air to breathe and should always be dried, otherwise there is a risk of mold.
6x plaster for sensor*If the adhesive on the sensors doesn’t hold or I plan to spend longer periods in the water, the plasters provide additional protection.
9x Freestyle Libre 3 Sensor*The Freestyle Libre 3 sensors replace the conventional bloody measurement in the finger. One sensor lasts for 14 days and even dives of up to 30 meters (unofficially). Perfect for having a permanent overview of your blood sugar in a foreign country and being able to react correctly. Even on flights there are no problems with the safety devices and it can simply be left on.
6x DextroDextrose can save your life. No joke! If my blood sugar gets too low, I always have these little compact lifesavers with me. It’s small, light and easy to pack, so it fits in every pocket.
10x Accu Check Fast click and one PenA small rondel with a total of 6 needles to get the small amount of blood from the finger to determine the current blood sugar level with the help of the test strips and the One Touch device.
2x Novo Nordisc Echo plusA pen similar to a clever Lamy fountain pen that is filled with insulin cartridges. I love this comparison, because that’s exactly what it is. Clever, because it stores digitally and can recall when I injected how much. This avoids having to inject twice if you can’t remember if and what you have injected. Believe me, this happens more often than you think.
1x Novo Nordisc 5Similar to the Echo plus.
2x Disoncare*The number 1 when it comes to insulin cooling and transportation. Unfortunately, there’s not enough space for us, which is why we use the coolant from the Disoncare in the Stanley thermos flasks. I take the Disoncare with me in everyday life or to the beach, as it keeps things cool much better and for longer than the Frio. But it’s good to have different options.
2x Stanley*Our most important gadget for transporting insulin. The Stanley offers enough space for all cartridges and the coating keeps them cold for a long time. The large opening is only available in the latest Stanley model, which is actually designed to keep food warm for hikes.
4x temperature sensors*Next to the Stanley itself, this is the most important element to ensure that the insulin is neither too hot nor too cold. The sensors constantly measure the temperature and it is transmitted to the cell phone. This means that we can not only see the current temperature, but also trends, which is very helpful for reacting correctly and protecting the insulin from getting too hot or cold.
Including 34 insulin cartridges in the Stanley thermos flasks

International health insurance + accident & liability insuranceVery important!

6x passport photosNot yet used but in case of loss of passport or entry documents to certain countries or for special visas.

Drone insuranceA must! In some countries, such as Vietnam, a drone permit is required for every flight. It is better to inquire about the application in advance, as this often has to be made at least 3 weeks in advance.

Technology

Technology
DroneDJI Mini 4 Pro – Fly More Combo*We have the Mini 3 Pro but would definitely get the 4 Pro as it has better features. Especially the 360° obstacle detection is better and we would have needed this in the Philippines. With this feature, we might still have it.
GoPro HERO 12*Underwater case*The underwater cover is necessary for dives deeper than 10 meters. We have seen for ourselves that the GoPro stopped working after 10 meters.
Handler/Floater*Great, so that the camera doesn’t sink but can float on the surface.
Head holder*Helpful to have your hands free and still be able to film.
Cell phonesHuawei P30 pro
Google Pixel 8 Pro* and protective films*The numerous features, especially when it comes to image editing, make this phone more than worthwhile. Faces can be easily replaced and people in the background can be removed with just one click. The extreme zoom gives the photos a depth of field, making the fur of animals look more than realistic.
Tripod*A must so that we can take more than just selfies of ourselves.
LaptopLenovo LOQ 15IRH8*Perfect for working with a more powerful processor and a dedicated graphics card.
Asus Vivobook 15*Very easy to transport and simple to operate.
Cable organizer*Great for organizing all kinds of charging cables, hard drives, SD cards, etc.
2x hard disksSan Disc 1 TB SSD*Small, light and more drop-proof than most hard disks.
WD Elements Portable 2TB HDD*Slightly larger and not as crash-proof as the SSD, but cheaper per TB.

Miscellaneous

Verschiedene Utensilien für unsere Weltreise Packliste
Miscellaneous
2x snorkel*This saves us a lot of costs and we never have to borrow any. What’s more, there aren’t always any to borrow.
3x diving mask*As we broke our second mask in the Caribbean right at the start of our trip and there weren’t any for sale, we unfortunately had to share one for the rest of our vacation and were no longer able to snorkel together. That won’t happen again with 3 masks.
1x wet bag*Perfect when not everything is dry but needs to go back in the backpack. Can also be washed.
1x Drybag small*Gut für Bootsfahrten oder am Strand, um Wasser und Sand von den Wertsachen abzuhalten.
1x waterproof cell phone protective caseWe feel safer, especially on the numerous boat trips.
1x Cocoon Air Core Travel Pillow*It’s always good to have another pillow or for bus or train journeys.

1x bag for shoesThis keeps the dirt out of the backpack.
2x combination lock*Good for hostels or locking up your backpack
1x Sea to summit clothesline*We have used it several times to dry our clothes. It is large and can also be made smaller.
1x mosquito head netWe once used it to sleep in a cave. Believe us, it’s better to sleep when you’re protected from creepy-crawlies.
2x ballpoint penAre needed again and again.
1x notebookSheets of paper to write something down quickly. E.G.: A note for someone in the hostel.
1x Sawyer Mini Waterfilter*Good and suitable if a lot of hiking is planned. There are so many waterfalls in South-East Asia that you don’t have to carry too much water with you.
7x carabiner*Great for quickly and easily hanging something on your rucksack. For example Shoes.
Armored tapeA bit unrolled onto a ballpoint pen. We have used this several times to reseal detergent or other packaging.
8x cable tiesCan help if something like the backpack breaks and needs to be held together temporarily. They are small and lightweight.
2x OhropaxGood if it’s too loud around you.
2x cell phone holder for flightThis means that the cell phone does not have to be held permanently to watch movies.
2x Waterbottle*The water bottle is available in different sizes. We have a 1 liter bottle so we can always fill it up with water and take it with us wherever we go. You can buy all the spare parts for these bottles separately on Amazon, so you don’t need a new one just because something small is broken.
Spiele
Puzzle bookletParticularly worthwhile when the battery is running low or simply to do something different while waiting at the airport or on the train.
Aerobi*A modern frisbee that is ideal for taking with you. Thanks to the flexible material and the hole in the middle, it can be easily attached to a rucksack. The red color is highly recommended so that the Frisbee is easy to find, whether in the water or in the countryside.
Waterball*The special ball bounces off the surface of the water and offers a special playing experience as it can bounce far and does not sink.

Conclusion

After 5 months and updating our packing list, we realized that we don’t need some of the clothes and could simply do without them.

Hence our tip:
It doesn’t always have to be suitable for every situation, everything you need during the trip is always available in the respective country. Even if you spontaneously need clothing for colder areas, you can find it there. Almost everything is cheaper in South East Asia, so it’s also worth buying small items locally.

And if you do need something specific on your packing list, it can either be sent by post or someone from home can take it with them when they visit.
